“If Allah helps you, none can overcome you: If He forsakes you, who is there after that, that can help you? In Allah then, let the Believers put their trust.” [3: 160]
“Say: Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our Protector: And on Allah let the believers put their trust.” [9:51]
“And put they trust on the exalted in Might, the Merciful.” [26:217]
“…Then when thou hast taken a decision put they trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him)” [3:159]
Tawakkul or Trust in Allah (swt) is something many of us have difficulty grasping. We tend to humanize it. We are unable to fully channel our trust in Allah (swt) and many times we overlook how miraculous this blessing truly is.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S) understood the concept of tawakkul and practiced it. He knew that one must first put their best efforts to do what Allah (swt) expects, and then he or she is able to leave the outcome of that action or decision solely to Allah (swt).

Anas (RA) reported that once someone asked Rasulullah (S),
“Should I tie my camel and have Tawakkul (trust in Allah for her protection) or should I leave her untied and have Tawakkul.”
Our beloved Prophet (S) replied, “Tie her and have Tawakkul.”

This goes to show that we can't just quit and pray that Allah (swt) will tend to us, instead we must make a conscious effort to strive to make our best attempt. If what we want is not achieved, then we must have complete trust that what we wanted was not what was best for us, for only Allah (swt) knows what is best for us--this is tawakkul.
Believers during the time of our beloved Rasulullah (S), lived with complete tawakkul. They had full trust in Allah (swt), giving them the greatest strength and courage ever needed. Thus, they were able to perform great tasks and survive the greatest of difficulties, without even a falter of faith.
Unfortunately, nowadays this is not the case. We tend to weaken our trust in Allah (swt) when faced with even the littlest hardships and tawakkul to us has become almost unattainable. SubhanAllah, why is it that we are able to trust others, yet so quick to question our trust in Allah (swt)? It is time we change this.

Insha'Allah this week, let us all make a conscious effort to have complete and endless trust in Allah (swt).
